GoldWingrGreg here from JustWings - GL1800 Specialty Service and Repair. 5th gens have wire harnesses with crimps in them. Sometimes the crimps can cause contact issues. There is one a few inches leftward of the IAT (idle air temp) sensor. The IAT is the black sensor at the back, center, of the air-box cover that pushes into a grommet. To see if possibly you have a crimp issue, when the engine is acting up, move the harness around where the IAT wires disappear into the harness about 3-4" to the left. That's approximatly where the crimp is. When pushing or moving around the harness, you're looking for a change in how it runs.
