The other day I was doing some work on my '12 Wing, including replacing the valve covers. After finishing up I took it for a short ride around the block to make sure everything was working OK, and when I got home I discovered oil leaking from the left side. Apparently I didn't get the valve cover gasket seated correctly. I pulled the cover again and cleaned and re-seated the gasket. However when I went to turn it on, all I got was a flash of the lights on the console and then everything went dead. I'm wondering if when I went for the test ride with the leak oil got sprayed all over some of the electronics on that side? I haven't pulled the shelters yet to verify. The thought of pulling the front fairing off is not exactly an appealing thought.
I've let it sit for a couple days while I worked on some wiring on my other bike. I just went out to start digging deeper, and it turned on and started. That does not make me feel warm and fuzzy though. Makes me nervous when problems "fix" themselves. Should I plan on pulling all the plastic anyway to make sure there aren't any problems hiding under there?
