Just purchased a 2008 GL1800 Comfort/Navi the week before Thanksgiving. 52500 on the odometer at purchase.
Now has 53600.
Was out for the second time with the SIL and his '99 Valkyrie Interstate practicing slow speed maneuvers (Uturns, offset weave, Right and Left turn from stop...)
Was trying a really too short cross where you do a Left Uturn, 90* right turn, then left Uturn...x 4. Into the 2nd right turn and had the clutch pulled in too much and all forward momentum ended, and laid her over on the left side. No slide, It was a controlled lay down...dink. Engine died via bank angle sensor I presume.
Stood her up, kickstand down, put in neutral, no start. Cycled the key, and then she started. Clutch in, first gear and started to release and heard for lack of a better description a bumping sound from the power plant. Engine sounded like a miss, transmission felt like it was bumping. Pulled out and something was definitely off.
Pulled the clutch in and the sound/feel mostly went away.
Put in neutral and the engine sounds fine, pull the clutch back in, no change, put in first and it's back.
Engine will still stall letting the clutch out, even with about 2k rpm - Likely not clutch...Crap, Ghost shift transmission issue???
Called it quits, I had a 15 mile ride home.
Noticed that the symptoms went away at 2500rpm Did not matter what gear, same engine miss, bumping in the driveline up to 2500, then all is good. Seems like a low power problem in 5th and roll on the throttle at 70mph. Seemed like she used to pick up a little better than that.
Other than she is a little upset with me for laying her over, what does the membership think is going on here?
